Well, it's Monday morning. All of us are recovering from a roller-coaster weekend of football. I sat on the same couch, in the same clothes, in the same position from Thursday evening (USC/Oregon St thriller) until 8:35pm on Sunday night. It wasn't until Sunday morning that I realized how bad I actually smelled.
It was a crazy college football week with 5 huge upsets (USC, Georgia, Florida, Wisconsin, and Wake). I was so sure on the USC game that I bet the janitor at my office $50 and gave him Oregon St +18. I know Oklahoma got boosted to the #1 spot, but Alabama looked the most dominant to me. They are unstoppable! Did you see those stats on Nick Saban? During his short career at 'Bama, he has held the lead for 342 minutes, been tied for 26 minutes, and trailed for 0 minutes!! That means he's never even let a team score first! That is ridiculous. They're the team to beat, but their schedule doesn't look very promising (Ole Miss, at Tenn, at LSU, Auburn), although if Coffee keeps running as strong as a Dark Roast double espresso mocha latte, I sure wouldn't want to face them.
NFL Sunday was equally riveting, especially living with 3 females whose understanding of football doesn't extend much further than "Tony Romo has a nice ass," or "That Rivers guy is hot!" The Niners continued to look horrible, surprising due to facing the Saints - who have become the running joke in our fantasy league that you should start any player facing the Saints. The Niners O-Line looked worse than Heather Locklear in her mugshot photo from this past Saturday. Tennessee, Carolina, and Buffalo looked strong, and I was impressed with Chicago's goal line stance - although why in the world did the Eagles keep running it? I'd like to think that Andy Reid could hear me through my TV since I was up by 10 in my fantasy match-up and he had McNabb going, so I kept yelling "RUN IT!! RUN IT!!" Cincy is in deep trouble, but at least Chad Ocho Cinco got his first touchdown catch (he's my #2 receiver on my fantasy team). St. Louis fired their coach this morning after their equally dreadful start to the season. Does this mean Bulger will be starting again? I think their trouble extends a whole lot farther than just their head coach. Why do execs always think that by changing head coaches, their team will start winning? The Rams haven't spent money on fresh talent in years! They just keep re-signing old players to huge contracts, all the while never realizing that it is extremely hard to stay competitive over a period of 10 years in a sport as punishing as the NFL. I'm not too excited about the Steelers/Ravens tonight for Futbol Americano. If I were a betting man, I'd take the Steelers and the 3.5.
Well, that concludes my first (of many) posts. Cheers! To keeping the wolves in the hills, and the women in our beds.
